‘Stable, responsive, light, and playful’, to quote Basso directly. Normally, you have to take such corporate launch literature with a grain - even a handful - of salt. With Basso, this isn’t often the case. Our partnership is now entering its third year and, throughout that, they’ve always impressed us with the way their bikes ride, even on the entry level Venta. There’s an edge to them, an inviolability when descending, and a sense that whoever formulated the geometry did so with an understanding of how the dimensions would interact frames material properties. ‘Stable, responsive, light, and playful’, in fact, sums the experience up very well and the new Diamante is the ultimate expression of such jargon. We knew it was coming for a long time and we waited, often impatiently, for it to come. We couldn’t be happier with the result.
